7 Questions You Must Ask Before Choosing a Video Production Studio

Choosing a video studio isn't like ordering a product from Amazon. You're choosing a creative partner for a project that will represent your company for years. Here are 7 questions to help you choose correctly.

Question 1: Who Will Actually Direct the Project?

Large studios sell and outsource to freelancers. Ask: who is the director who will sit with me in the room? If the answer is "one of our team" — ask to meet them before signing.

Question 2: Do You Have Examples from My Industry?

A beautiful portfolio full of food films won't prepare you for a technical B2B film. Ask specifically: do you have experience with high-tech / real estate / defense companies?

Question 3: What's Included in the Price?

A price "starting from X" usually doesn't include: actors, original music, additional versions, changes outside scope. Ask for a full breakdown.

Question 4: How Many Revision Rounds Are Included?

2-3 rounds is standard. Less than that — they're trying to profit at your expense. More than 5 — there's probably no clear work process.

Question 5: What Happens If I Don't Like It?

Ask directly: what happens if after the final film I didn't like the direction? Is there a stopping point in the process where the direction can be changed? A good studio will say yes — and explain how.

Question 6: Do They Have Insurance?

Production insurance is mandatory. Accidents happen on set. If the company has no insurance — the potential damage could fall on you.

Question 7: Is There "Chemistry"?

This sounds emotional, but it's critical. You're going to spend intensive shoot days with this team. Direct communication, comfort saying "I didn't like it," and the ability to talk about budget openly — these are components of a successful partnership.
